I vote for the diagonal rows. I'm sure either one will be very pretty!
The first one is beautiful but I think you lose the effect of the roses. I like both but I've gotta vote for the 2nd one.
I'd vote for the diagonal layout. The diamond layout reminds me of nine-pins for some reason - lol.
